*** About Yaks: Yaks are large domesticated bovids found throughout the Himalayan region of south Central Asia, the Tibetan Plateau and as far north as Mongolia and Russia. Most commonly associated with Tibetan culture, yaks are integral to the livelihood of the local communities, providing milk, meat, and fiber, as well as being used for transport. Yaks are known for their ability to live in high altitudes and are often seen grazing on the vast alpine meadows. Their thick, woolly coats protect them from the harsh winter temperatures, which can plummet well below freezing.
